PSEi Surges Past 6,000 Mark

The Philippine Stock Exchange Index staged a strong rally on April 8, 2026, closing at 6,089.91, up 132.04 points or 2.22 percent, signaling renewed investor optimism in the local market.
Trading activity remained robust, with total value turnover reaching PHP 8.2 billion. Market breadth was clearly positive, as 158 stocks advanced, outpacing 47 decliners, while 57 issues remained unchanged.
Despite the upbeat performance, foreign investors continued to be net sellers. Foreign buying totaled Php 3.39 billion, while foreign selling reached Php 3.83 billion, resulting in a net foreign outflow of Php 437.45 million.
The sharp gain pushed the index back above the key 6,000 level, a psychological milestone often seen as a sign of strengthening market sentiment. Analysts note that such movements may reflect improved confidence amid easing concerns and bargain hunting following previous market declines.
