Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo Duterte claimed on Wednesday that arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court (ICC) have already been issued against Sen. Christopher Go and two former police officers, raising fresh accusations that the administration is using international legal mechanisms against its political opponents.

In a social media post, Duterte said he received information from what he described as a highly reliable source regarding the supposed warrants. However, neither the ICC nor Philippine authorities have publicly confirmed the existence of any such orders.

The congressman questioned what he described as the administration’s alleged use of the ICC as a political weapon.

He also accused government institutions of being used to silence political opponents and divert attention from larger issues confronting the country, including the rising national debt.

The ICC has been investigating allegations of crimes against humanity linked to the anti-drug campaign carried out during the administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte. The court's probe covers alleged killings committed from November 2011, when Duterte was mayor of Davao City, until March 2019, shortly before the Philippines formally withdrew from the Rome Statute.

Earlier this year, former President Rodrigo Duterte was taken into ICC custody in The Hague following the issuance of an arrest warrant related to the court's investigation. Several Duterte allies have since questioned the legality of the proceedings and accused the Marcos administration of cooperating with the tribunal despite the country's withdrawal from the ICC.

Sen. Bong Go, a longtime aide and close ally of the former president, has repeatedly defended Duterte and criticized the ICC investigation, maintaining that Philippine institutions are capable of handling any allegations against former officials.

In his post, Pulong Duterte warned public officials against blindly following the administration, saying political alliances are temporary and that justice should never be used as a weapon against the opposition.

He likewise expressed concern over the country's ballooning debt, which he said has reached P18.49 trillion, arguing that future generations would bear the burden.

As of Wednesday, there has been no official statement from the ICC regarding any arrest warrants against Go or the two unnamed former police officers. The Department of Justice and Malacañang have also yet to comment on Duterte's claims.

The latest remarks from the Davao lawmaker come amid continuing political tensions between allies of former President Duterte and the Marcos administration, which have increasingly clashed over issues involving the ICC investigation and other national concerns.
