MANILA — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has released the mug shot of former Senator Ramon Revilla Jr., along with several co-accused, after their processing following the issuance of arrest warrants linked to the ongoing flood control case.
During a press briefing, DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla reiterated that the law applies equally to everyone, regardless of status or influence. He emphasized that public officials must prioritize their duty to the country even when enforcement involves friends or long-time associates, adding that personal relationships cannot override responsibility to the nation.
Remulla also stressed that the government’s actions aim to uphold accountability and the rule of law, and that the President’s directives are being followed without exceptions.
In the same briefing, the DILG said Revilla and the other detainees were placed under standard medical observation and classification procedures for newly admitted inmates before being integrated into the general population — a routine process applied to all detainees.
Officials also clarified that Revilla is being treated like any other detainee, wearing standard Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) clothing, and that jail rules are being strictly enforced. Unauthorized items, including gadgets and personal clothes, were not allowed inside the facility.
Authorities reiterated that no special treatment is being given and that privileges previously associated with a senator do not apply inside jail. The DILG emphasized that equality under the law remains a key principle in the country’s justice system.
