Samsung Electronics is pushing television technology to a whole new level with its latest Micro RGB TV, a next-generation display that combines ultra-vivid colors, AI-powered enhancements, and an enormous 130-inch screen designed for immersive home entertainment.
After gaining global recognition at CES 2026 and earning a spot on TIME magazine’s “Best Inventions of the Year,” Samsung is now expanding the Micro RGB lineup with an ultra-large model that aims to redefine how people experience screens at home.
According to Insang Hwang of Samsung’s Visual Display Business Division, the project was unlike anything the company had developed before.
“Because the mission was to create a category that didn’t previously exist, every department — from development to sales and marketing — had to work together with a shared sense of urgency and responsibility,” Hwang said.
Unlike traditional TVs, the Micro RGB TV uses micro-sized red, green, and blue LEDs directly in its backlight system, allowing for richer and more accurate color reproduction. Samsung said the display was designed to achieve “100% BT.2020,” a color standard often referred to as the ultimate benchmark for ultra-high-definition displays.
“Although the Micro RGB TV started with the goal of delivering richer color reproduction, there was no clearly defined industry standard at the time,” Hwang said. “We felt a strong sense of responsibility, believing that the conditions we set could become the new standard for the market.”
The technology is designed not just for premium content, but also for everyday viewing. Samsung added AI-powered software features such as Micro RGB Color Booster Pro, which analyzes content in real time to improve colors across streaming shows, sports, and HDR content.
“One of the key strengths of Micro RGB is making color feel natural and immersive in everyday viewing,” Hwang explained.
Sports fans may also benefit from Samsung’s new AI Soccer Mode Pro, which automatically detects football matches and enhances details like the color of the grass and team uniforms for a more lifelike experience.
Samsung also introduced a glare-free display feature to help maintain picture quality in bright rooms and different lighting conditions.
For the new 130-inch model, Samsung focused heavily on immersion. The TV includes AI-based picture optimization technology called Supersize Picture Enhancer to maintain image sharpness even on the massive screen.
“We equipped the TV with Supersize Picture Enhancer, an AI-powered picture quality technology optimized for ultra-large displays,” Hwang said. “Thanks to this, viewers can enjoy Micro RGB’s rich colors and sharp image quality without distortion or pixelation.”
The giant display also features a built-in 160W 10.4.2-channel speaker system, reducing the need for external sound equipment while delivering a cinematic audio experience.
Samsung said the TV’s nearly gapless wall-mount design was also developed to make the display blend naturally into living spaces, giving users the feeling that the entire wall has transformed into a screen.
Looking ahead, Samsung sees TVs evolving beyond simple entertainment devices into intelligent platforms integrated into daily life.
“Samsung TVs are evolving into screens that seamlessly integrate into users’ lifestyles and living spaces, understanding their preferences through data and enabling interactions,” Hwang said. “They will go beyond content consumption to become powerful platforms that connect limitless experiences and services.”
