Sara Duterte's Husband Mans Carpio Files Complaint Over Bank Record Reveal
Senate PH FILE
Atty. Manases 'Mans' Carpio, husband of Vice President Sara Duterte, has taken the legal fight to Quezon City prosecutors after accusing several government officials of unlawfully disclosing their bank records during a House impeachment hearing.
Carpio filed the complaint-affidavit on April 27, 2026 before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Quezon City, naming a number of high-profile officials as respondents.
Included in the complaint are Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Governor Eli Remolona Jr., AMLC Executive Director Ronel Buenaventura, House Committee on Justice Chair Gerville Luistro, along with Representatives Percival Cendaña, Chel Diokno, and Leila de Lima. John and Jane Does were also listed.
The complaint cites possible violations of key laws, including the Anti-Money Laundering Act of 2001, the Bank Secrecy Law, and the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
In his affidavit, Carpio said the respondents are being sued in their “private individual capacity” for what he described as illegal and criminal acts, citing a Supreme Court ruling to support his move.
The case has been docketed under the National Prosecution Service, although full details of the allegations and supporting evidence have yet to be disclosed.
The filing adds fresh tension to the ongoing impeachment proceedings, with attention now on how Quezon City prosecutors will handle the complaint in the coming days.
