Savi Davison Leads PLDT To Gritty Five-Set Win Over Farm Fresh

The PLDT High Speed Hitters leaned on their strong net defense and the explosive performance of Savi Davison to outlast the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-17, 23-25, 27-25, 21-25, 15-12, in a thrilling match in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre on Thursday.
PLDT came out strong in the deciding fifth set, opening with back-to-back blocks on Trisha Tubu and Royse Tubino to grab early control. Farm Fresh fought back and trimmed the lead several times, the last at 7-8 after a mishit by Kiesha Bedonia.
But Davison stepped up when it mattered most. The Fil-Canadian star blasted three straight attacks to give PLDT a 12-9 cushion, while Jessey de Leon added a key block on Ces Molina. An ace from Angge Alcantara pushed the High Speed Hitters to match point before Davison sealed the win with her conference-high 32nd point.
The victory improved PLDT to 5-1, keeping them close behind the Cignal HD Spikers in the standings.
Kim Dy supported Davison with 19 points, while Majoy Baron and Alleiah Malaluan added nine each. Davison also recorded 12 digs and 13 receptions to complete a rare triple-double performance.
Farm Fresh dropped to 2-4 despite solid efforts from Tubino with 17 points, Molina with 14, and Tubu with 16.
