If you’ve noticed fewer suspicious texts and shady phone calls lately, you’re not imagining things. New data shows that scam activities dropped significantly in 2025, giving mobile users a bit of breathing room.

According to figures from the Whoscall App by Gogolok, a trust tech firm working closely with the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center or CICC, a total of 822,634 SMS scams and 477,302 scam calls were recorded last year. While those numbers are still high, they represent a major improvement compared to 2024.

In fact, SMS scams saw the biggest decline. From more than 6.1 million cases in 2024, the number plunged by 86.65 percent in 2025. Scam calls also went down, dropping by 21.84 percent from the 610,688 incidents logged the year before.

Experts say the decrease may be linked to stronger monitoring, improved scam-detection technology, and increased public awareness. More Filipinos are now able to recognize suspicious messages and calls before falling victim.

Still, authorities remind the public not to let their guard down. Scammers continue to evolve, finding new ways to trick people into sharing personal information or sending money. Staying informed, verifying unknown messages, and using trusted security apps remain key in keeping scams at bay.
