Silver Shine For Gilas Women After Breakthrough FIBA Asia Cup Run

Gilas Pilipinas Women wrapped up a historic campaign with a silver medal finish after bowing to defending champions Australia women's national 3x3 team, 9-18, in the finals of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup in Singapore on Sunday.
Australia wasted no time asserting control, unloading a quick 6-0 start that left the Filipinas chasing early. Two-time UAAP MVP Kacey dela Rosa tried to spark a comeback with back-to-back baskets, but the Aussies stayed composed and never looked back.
Even in defeat, the Filipinas made history—securing the country’s first-ever medal in the tournament and reaching the finals for the first time.
Their path to the championship was packed with big moments, including a nail-biting 21-19 semifinal win over Japan women's national 3x3 team and a 15-12 quarterfinal upset against Mongolia women's national 3x3 team.
Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas saw its run end in the quarterfinals after an 18-15 loss to South Korea men's national 3x3 team.
