The local stock market rebounded on Tuesday, with the benchmark PSEi closing higher as investor sentiment improved.
At the close of trading on March 31, 2026, the index rose by 79.45 points, or 1.35%, to settle at 5,948.94.
Market activity remained relatively strong, with total value turnover reaching PHP 9.8 billion. Advancers outpaced decliners, 124 to 79, while 62 stocks remained unchanged—reflecting a generally positive trading session.
Despite the gains, foreign investors were still net sellers for the day. Foreign buying totaled Php 5.63 billion, while foreign selling reached Php 6.34 billion, resulting in a net foreign outflow of Php 712.33 million.
The upward movement signals renewed buying interest after recent declines, although continued foreign selling suggests cautious sentiment among offshore investors.
Analysts will be watching closely in the coming days to see whether the market can sustain its momentum amid ongoing economic and global uncertainties.
