Stocks Climb Near 6,000 As Market Ends Higher

Philippine stocks edged closer to the 6,000 mark on Tuesday, with the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) closing at 5,998.68—up 49.74 points or 0.84 percent.
The market’s upward movement reflects a generally positive trading session, with more stocks advancing than declining. Gainers outpaced losers, 112 to 87, while 55 issues remained unchanged, signaling a modestly optimistic tone among investors.
Despite the index’s rise, foreign investors continued to pull out funds. Total foreign selling reached Php 5.44 billion, exceeding foreign buying of Php 4.24 billion. This resulted in a net foreign outflow of about Php 1.20 billion, suggesting that overseas investors remain cautious even as the local market posts gains.
Trading activity for the day amounted to Php 7.9 billion, indicating steady participation from market players.
While the PSEi nearly breached the 6,000 level, analysts will likely keep a close watch on whether the market can sustain its momentum in the coming sessions—especially amid continued foreign selling pressure.
