Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon is confident that the evidence against former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co and others involved in the controversial flood control project in Oriental Mindoro is solid and well-founded.
Following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s order to hold accountable all politicians, government officials, and private contractors linked to substandard or “ghost” flood control projects, Secretary Dizon emphasized the government’s commitment to justice during his testimony at the Sandiganbayan on Tuesday.
He also assured that the disputed flood control project underwent thorough review, including audits by the Commission on Audit (COA), before being subjected to legal scrutiny.
Looking ahead, Secretary Dizon expects to face more court hearings related to similar flood control cases in Davao Occidental and Bulacan, signaling a continued crackdown on irregularities in public infrastructure projects.
