TINGOG Party-list has pledged medical, financial, and psychosocial assistance to victims of the deadly shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, as the community continues to grapple with the tragedy that claimed the lives of several students and injured others.
In a statement released Sunday, the group expressed sorrow over the incident and extended its sympathies to the families of the victims, as well as to students, teachers, and school personnel affected by the violence.
The party-list said it is already coordinating with hospitals, the Tacloban City Government, the Department of Education, and other concerned agencies to help ensure that injured students receive the care they need.
According to TINGOG, assistance will cover hospitalization, medicines, laboratory expenses, follow-up treatment, transportation, and other immediate medical needs of the victims.
Beyond physical injuries, the group also emphasized the need to address the emotional and psychological impact of the incident on students, families, teachers, and the broader school community.
To support recovery efforts, TINGOG said it will work with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Department of Education, health professionals, guidance counselors, faith-based groups, and local government units to provide grief counseling, trauma debriefing, crisis intervention, and mental health services.
The organization also called for a thorough investigation into the shooting, including how firearms were able to enter the school environment and what measures can be strengthened to prevent similar incidents in the future.
TINGOG stressed the importance of ensuring accountability while observing legal processes and the protections afforded to minors.
At the same time, the group voiced support for stronger school safety measures, including closer coordination among schools, parents, barangays, law enforcement agencies, mental health professionals, and local governments.
It also backed the establishment of more accessible reporting mechanisms for potential threats, enhanced campus security protocols, and programs that promote peaceful conflict resolution and student well-being.
The shooting at San Jose National High School has sparked widespread concern across Tacloban City and beyond, with government agencies, local officials, and community groups mobilizing support for those affected as investigations continue.
TINGOG said it remains committed to helping the victims and standing with the school community as it begins the difficult process of healing and recovery.
