Trump Moves To Blockade Strait Of Hormuz As Tensions With Iran Escalate

The United States Navy is preparing to enforce a sweeping blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, following a strong statement from U.S President Donald Trump over unresolved nuclear tensions with Iran.
According to Trump, recent talks may have gone “well” overall, but failed to address what he described as the most critical issue—the nuclear question. Because of this, he said the US will move forward with blockading ships attempting to enter or exit the vital shipping route.
Trump claimed the move is in response to what he called “world extortion,” accusing Iran of creating uncertainty in the strait by suggesting the possible presence of naval mines. He argued that such threats disrupt global shipping and cannot be tolerated.
Under the plan, US forces would intercept vessels in international waters that are believed to have paid tolls to Iran, which Washington considers illegal. The Navy is also expected to begin operations aimed at locating and clearing any suspected mines in the area.
Trump issued a strong warning, saying any hostile action against US forces or civilian ships would be met with force. He also signaled that other countries could join the blockade effort, framing it as a broader international response to protect maritime security.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical oil chokepoints, making any disruption there a major concern for global trade and energy supply.
While the situation continues to develop, the announcement marks a sharp escalation in tensions, with the potential to impact not just the region, but economies around the world.
