Trump Orders New Strikes On Iran After Alleged Ceasefire Breach

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces carried out another round of airstrikes against Iran, saying the operation was launched after Tehran allegedly violated a fragile ceasefire agreement through renewed attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump said the strikes targeted Iranian missile and drone storage facilities, coastal radar installations, and other military infrastructure after Iran allegedly failed to honor the ceasefire. He warned that the United States was prepared to respond if Tehran continued what Washington described as repeated violations of the agreement.

According to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation struck military surveillance infrastructure, communications systems, air defense sites, drone storage facilities, and mine-laying capabilities. The U.S. military said the strikes followed an alleged Iranian drone attack on the Panamanian-flagged tanker M/T Kiku, which Washington described as a breach of the ceasefire and a threat to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest exchange comes as the ceasefire reached earlier this month faces growing pressure following a series of military incidents in one of the world's most strategically important waterways. The Strait of Hormuz handles a significant share of global oil shipments, making any disruption a major concern for international energy markets and maritime trade.

U.S. officials said the latest strikes were intended to reduce Iran's military capabilities and protect freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran, however, rejected the accusations, denied violating the ceasefire, and condemned the U.S. attacks as unlawful and a violation of its sovereignty.

The renewed fighting has fueled fears that the already fragile ceasefire could collapse completely, raising concerns of a wider conflict in the Middle East. Several governments have called on both Washington and Tehran to exercise restraint and return to diplomatic negotiations before tensions escalate further.

Trump also warned that additional military action remains possible if Iran continues attacks on commercial shipping or threatens U.S. interests and allies in the region, signaling that Washington is prepared to carry out further strikes if the situation deteriorates.
