TVJ Wins Court Case Against Anjo Yllana
FILE
TVJ Productions Inc. and the noontime program Eat Bulaga welcomed a court ruling in its favor against former television host Anjo Yllana, calling the decision a victory for the show's reputation and a reminder that social media should not be used recklessly to harm the rights of others.

In a statement released following the decision, TVJ Productions said:

"We welcomed the Court's Decision as a definitive vindication of the integrity of Eat Bulaga, its hosts, and its management, and of the decades of trust that generations of viewers have placed in the program."

The company added:

"The Court's Decision stands as a stern warning that social media cannot be used recklessly to destroy the rights of others."

According to the 18-page decision of the Regional Trial Court of Mandaluyong City, Branch 279, TVJ Productions established through clear testimonial and documentary evidence that it has a protectable right over the Eat Bulaga brand and its corporate goodwill. The court ruled that Yllana's acts violated those rights and granted the company's complaint for a permanent injunction to preserve its established corporate goodwill.

As a result, Yllana, his agents, representatives, and all persons acting on his behalf within the territorial jurisdiction of the National Capital Judicial Region were permanently enjoined from committing the prohibited acts specified in the court's decision.

The court also ordered Yllana to pay a total of ₱3.5 million in damages, attorney's fees, and litigation expenses. The monetary award will earn 6 percent annual legal interest from the finality of the judgment until it is fully paid.

The case stemmed from a series of Facebook Live broadcasts made by Yllana in 2025, during which he allegedly made statements against TVJ members and other personalities connected with Eat Bulaga. The court ruled that the acts complained of violated TVJ Productions' rights over the Eat Bulaga brand and its corporate goodwill, warranting the issuance of a permanent injunction.

The latest ruling adds to a string of legal victories for TVJ Productions over the Eat Bulaga brand. In previous cases, the courts and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines recognized TVJ's rights over the program's trademark, audiovisual recordings, jingles, and other creative works while rejecting challenges filed by former producer TAPE Inc.
