VP Sara Duterte Files Perjury Complaint Against Alleged Bagman In Impeachment Case

Vice President Sara Duterte took action this morning, filing a perjury complaint against Ramil Madriaga, the man who posed as her supposed “bagman,” at the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.

In a statement, Duterte drew parallels to the International Criminal Court case against former President Rodrigo Duterte, which relied heavily on testimony from witnesses like Arturo Lascañas and Edgar Matobato. She noted that if the credibility of these accounts had been questioned or challenged earlier, they would not have been used in the ICC proceedings against the former president.

Duterte claimed that a similar tactic is now being repeated in the House of Representatives. According to her, Madriaga — a defendant in a kidnapping case — posed as a campaign supporter before suddenly appearing as a “witness” in her impeachment proceedings.

“Because of this, I have filed a perjury case against Ramil Madriaga today to hold him accountable for his lies,” she said. “We cannot allow fabricated stories to mislead the public.”

Duterte added that her lawyer, Atty. Paolo Panelo, will handle all media questions regarding the case.

This move underscores her determination to challenge what she calls “false narratives” amid the ongoing impeachment proceedings.
