MANILA, Philippines — Samsung Electronics is making bigger waves in the streaming world as Samsung TV Plus surpassed 100 million monthly active users globally, showing strong demand for free, ad-supported TV.

The platform added about 12 million users since October 2024, when it had 88 million viewers, as audiences look for simpler and more affordable alternatives to paid streaming services. Unlike subscription-based platforms, Samsung TV Plus allows instant access to live channels and on-demand content directly from smart TVs — no sign-ups or extra fees required.

Launched in 2015, the service has evolved from a pre-installed TV feature into a full global media platform. It now offers around 4,300 channels and 66,000 video-on-demand titles across 30 countries, along with AI-enhanced classic content and expanded lifestyle and K-content programming through partnerships with major media companies.

The milestone places Samsung TV Plus among major global broadcasting platforms in terms of monthly viewership, highlighting the rapid growth of FAST (free ad-supported streaming TV) services worldwide.

“Samsung TV Plus has transformed into a global media platform that seamlessly integrates into the daily lives of viewers worldwide,” said Choi Joon-hun, Head of the TV Plus Group from Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen our distinct competitive edge in the FAST market by diversifying channels and securing premium content.”

With its hardware roots now powering a growing streaming ecosystem, Samsung Electronics continues to expand its role in the evolving global media landscape.
