KIANGAN, IFUGAO — Vice President Sara Duterte expressed admiration for the iconic Nagacadan Rice Terraces following her recent visit to the province, where she also joined the festivities of the Rambakan Festival.
In a social media post, Duterte said she was amazed by the scenic beauty of the terraces, which form part of the rice terraces in the Cordillera region recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The Nagacadan Rice Terraces are considered a “living cultural landscape” and are often described as an open-air museum, reflecting the long-standing relationship between the Ifugao people’s culture and their natural surroundings.
During her visit, Duterte also underscored the importance of preserving the country’s natural and cultural heritage for future generations. She highlighted ongoing environmental initiatives of the Office of the Vice President, including its tree-growing campaign aimed at promoting sustainability and conservation.
She also conveyed appreciation to the local community for their warm welcome during the visit.
The vice president’s trip comes as part of broader efforts to promote cultural tourism in Ifugao, a province known for its centuries-old rice terraces and rich indigenous heritage.
