Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon is putting inter-agency coordination front and center as the government moves forward with the Calbayog Coastal Road Project.

Dizon said the Department of Public Works and Highways will closely work with other government agencies, particularly the Philippine Ports Authority, to make sure the project is implemented properly and without unnecessary problems.

According to the DPWH chief, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has given clear instructions for agencies to coordinate, especially on major infrastructure projects, to avoid delays, confusion, and disruptions that could affect the public.

The Calbayog Coastal Road Project is expected to serve as an alternative route for motorists traveling from Calbayog City to the towns of Rawis, Aguit-itan, and San Policarpio. Once completed, it is seen as a key solution to ease traffic in Calbayog’s busy commercial district.

Dizon also issued a firm reminder to DPWH officials and personnel, warning that those found negligent in handling projects could face charges. He stressed that infrastructure delays or mistakes can have serious consequences, especially for residents and daily commuters.

When finished, the coastal road is expected to bring long-term relief to traffic congestion and improve mobility in the area—making coordination and careful planning, Dizon said, more important than ever.
