In a move aimed at streamlining the impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, the complainants behind the second impeachment complaint have formally withdrawn their case to support the third complaint now pending before the House Committee on Justice.

In a letter dated March 2, 2026, addressed to Committee on Justice Chairperson Gerville Luistro, the group said that after careful discussion and reflection, they decided to withdraw their Verified Complaint dated February 2, 2026. Instead, they are throwing their full support behind the third impeachment complaint filed on February 9, 2026, by Fr. Joel Saballa and others, which was endorsed by Mamamayang Liberal partylist Representative Leila de Lima.

According to the complainants, the third complaint contains the same allegations and substantial evidence outlined in their earlier filing. By consolidating support behind one complaint, they believe the process toward accountability can move more efficiently and avoid potential scheduling issues that could be used by the vice president’s camp to question the proceedings.

The group also assured that despite withdrawing their own complaint, they will remain actively involved and interested in the process as part of their push for justice, good governance, and accountability.

Deliberations on the verified impeachment complaints against the vice president are set to begin today, March 2, signaling what could be a crucial phase in the unfolding political developments.
