Staying The Course Could Be The Real Edge In The PVL All-Filipino Race

While some teams grabbed headlines with big roster shakeups, a handful of PVL contenders quietly chose a simpler — and riskier — route: stick together and get better.

As the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference tips off this weekend in San Juan, these squads are betting that chemistry, familiarity, and trust can matter just as much as flashy new signings in an all-local showdown.

Akari leads that group, returning almost the same lineup that delivered two bronze finishes last season. Minor exits opened spots, but smart depth additions — without touching the core — keep the Chargers steady. With Ivy Lacsina and company now fully settled into coach Tina Salak’s system, Akari looks ready to turn consistency into a real title push.

Choco Mucho blended continuity with star power. The Flying Titans finally landed a game-changer in Eya Laure, pairing her with a re-energized Sisi Rondina for one of the league’s most dangerous wing duos. If Laure meshes quickly with an already tight unit, Choco Mucho could flip last year’s frustrations into a deep run.

Cignal took the quietest route of all — barely touching its roster. The Super Spikers are banking on experience, cohesion, and a trusted core led by Gel Cayuna and Dawn Catindig. No buzz, no noise — just belief that what they have is enough.

For Creamline, continuity comes with a renewed edge. After an injury-plagued 2025, the Cool Smashers welcome back a fully healthy core led by Tots Carlos, Bea De Leon, Jema Galanza, and Bernadeth Pons, plus the return of Jia De Guzman. The dynasty isn’t done — it’s refocused.

PLDT rounds out the group, keeping the championship chemistry that fueled its On Tour and Invitational titles. With just one addition and the system intact, the High Speed Hitters remain dangerous as long as Savannah Davison stays in attack mode.

As the conference unfolds, the story won’t just be about who changed the most — but who understands each other best when the pressure hits. In a league decided by slim margins, the loudest moves may not win.

Sometimes, staying together is the boldest move of all.
