Trump Hits Pause On Iran Strike, Opens Door To Possible Peace Deal

A sudden shift in tone from U.S President Donald Trump may signal a cooling of tensions in the Middle East.

In a statement, Trump revealed he has agreed to suspend a planned military strike against Iran for two weeks—following talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan.

According to Trump, the request from Pakistan’s top leaders played a key role in the decision to hold off on what he described as a “destructive force” that was already set to be deployed.

But this isn’t a one-sided move.

The pause in military action comes with a condition: Iran must ensure the immediate and safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz—a crucial global oil route. If both sides follow through, Trump says the two-week window will serve as a “double-sided ceasefire.”

He also struck an optimistic tone, saying the United States has already met its military objectives and is now close to finalizing a long-term peace agreement with Iran. A 10-point proposal from Tehran, he added, is now on the table and seen as a workable foundation for negotiations.

Almost all major issues between the two sides have reportedly been settled, with the remaining details expected to be ironed out during the two-week pause.

For now, the message is clear: instead of escalation, both sides may be inching toward diplomacy—raising hopes that a long-standing conflict in the region could finally be nearing resolution.
