Vice President Sara Duterte pushed back strongly on Tuesday against allegations raised during the House Committee on Justice proceedings, dismissing them as false and politically motivated.

In a statement dated April 15, 2026, Duterte reacted to what she described as “lies” presented during the recent “mini-trial” conducted by the House Committee on Justice on April 14. She specifically took issue with claims that she needed assistance to complete law school.

According to Duterte, she completed her law studies independently and did not seek special treatment from any professor. She said she prioritized a balanced lifestyle over academic distinction but maintained that she met academic requirements without issues.

She also stressed that she never faced complaints regarding behavior during her time at San Sebastian College – Recoletos College of Law, adding that she graduated in May 2005 and took the Bar Exams in September of the same year.

Duterte highlighted that she passed the Bar on her first attempt, describing her performance as proof of her competence and discipline.

“I passed the Bar on my first attempt,” she said, noting that her results exceeded the minimum requirement.

In her statement, the Vice President also criticized individuals linked to the House proceedings, saying they “cannot even weave a believable lie” and lack respect for the rule of law.

She further claimed that the ongoing proceedings reflect broader issues of corruption and abuse within parts of government, and linked the situation to what she described as misuse of public funds amid ongoing economic challenges.

Duterte ended her statement by urging the public to remember past allegations surrounding impeachment efforts and reaffirmed her position that she is being subjected to politically driven attacks.

The House Committee on Justice has yet to issue a response to her latest remarks.
