A group of promising young basketball players from Davao is set to take a major step forward in their basketball careers after their transfer to La Salle Green Hills Zobel was officially confirmed.
In a Facebook post, Coach Jess Evangelio of Ateneo de Davao proudly announced that Macky Peligrino, Rhysus Bajenting, JM Sanoria, and Matt Cayetano will be joining the La Salle Zobel program, one of the country's respected basketball development systems.
“It is with great pride and gratitude that I finally confirm that our boys will be joining La Salle Zobel as they begin an exciting new chapter in their basketball and academic journey,” Coach Jess said.
The coach shared his appreciation to La Salle Zobel for welcoming the young athletes and giving them an opportunity to continue pursuing both their studies and basketball aspirations.
“We are truly thankful to La Salle Zobel for opening its doors and providing them with the opportunity to grow not only as athletes, but also as students and young men of character. Your trust and belief in their potential mean so much to all of us,” he added.
According to Coach Jess, the players are fully aware of the challenge ahead and are ready to embrace the opportunity that comes with joining the Lasallian community.
“We do not take this opportunity lightly. Our boys are committed to working hard, staying humble, and representing the Lasallian community with pride, discipline, and integrity both on and off the court.”
Coach Jess also acknowledged the support of La Salle Zobel basketball program head Coach Gian Nazario, whom he credited for believing in the players and helping open doors for their future.
“A special thank you to Coach Gian Nazario for believing in them and for playing a significant role in helping shape their future. We are honored to entrust our boys to your program.”
He likewise expressed gratitude to Phenom Management Head Coach Brody for his continued guidance and support throughout the athletes' development.
For Peligrino, Bajenting, Sanoria, and Cayetano, the move represents more than just a transfer to a new school. It is an opportunity to compete at a higher level, continue their education, and further develop as student-athletes.
As they prepare to don the green and white colors of La Salle Zobel, the young players carry with them the support of their families, coaches, and the basketball community that helped shape their journey.
“The journey continues. Animo!” Coach Jess said
