MANILA – Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said business establishments that were allowed to operate in areas under general community quarantine (GCQ) have maintained a high rate of compliance with the government’s health protocols.

“We have over 92 percent compliance rate,” Lopez said in a Laging Handa public briefing Friday.

He added that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), along with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Department of Health (DOH), conducts assessments every day in establishments in GCQ areas like Metro Manila.

“We don’t see any widespread violation of the health measures,” the DTI chief said in Filipino.

With the high compliance rate with the health protocol, Lopez said DTI and the economic team in the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) are pushing for the further reopening of business establishments like movie houses in Metro Manila and other GCQ areas.

“What’s important is we maintain the health protocol,” said Lopez.

Lopez said to manage the Covid-19 cases with the reopening of more economic activities, Filipinos should strictly follow health measures in public places while the government ensures the enforcement of the protocol like wearing of face mask and face shield, maintaining physical distancing, and sanitizing.
