COVID-19 in numbers (August 16)

The Philippines records the highest single-day increase in COVID-19 recoveries as the Department of Health reports 40,397 new recoveries on Sunday.

The spike in the number of recoveries is a result of Oplan Recovery, an initiative of the DOH to monitor the status of confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The Department also reports 3,420 new cases and 65 more deaths.

Total number of confirmed cases is now at 161,253.
