The Food and Drug Administration has warned the public against buying and consuming certain unregistered food products and food supplements.

In an advisory posted on its website today, FDA said the public should not buy and consume the following:

1. Reno brand Liver Spread
2. Miracle White Advance Whitening Capsules Food Supplement
3. Turcumin 100% Natural & Standardized Turmeric Curcumin
4. Desa Spanish Style Bangus in Corn Oil
5. Samantha’s Dips and Sauces Spanish Sardines Paste Sauce

The FDA said that it cannot assure the products’ quality and safety since they did not go through the agency’s evaluation process and are unregistered.

The manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, offering for sale, distribution, transfer, non-consumer use, promotion, advertising or sponsorship of health products without the proper FDA authorization are prohibited under the FDA Act of 2009.

The FDA requested law enforcement agencies and local government units to ensure that these products are not sold or made available in the market or areas under their jurisdictions. The Bureau of Customs was also asked to prevent these products from entering the country.

The public can report the sale or distribution of unregistered products through the FDA’s eReport online platform (www.fda.gov.ph/ereport).
