Authorities have reported that an alleged Abu Sayyaf Group sub-leader was killed in an encounter in Patikul, Sulu.

Joint Task Force Sulu identified the slain terrorist as Arsibar Sawadjaan, a cousin of Mundi Sawadjaan, the alleged mastermind of the Jolo, Sulu twin bombings last August.

Arsibar is also known to be the bomb-maker of the terrorist group.

He was killed when the 45th Infantry Battalion engaged around 40 ASG members in a firefight on Monday morning.

The military earlier received a tip from a concerned citizen from Barangay Tanum that the group of Mundi and Radulan Sahiron was in the area.
