The Philippine Basketball Association is ready to get back to work and push through with their plans after the government’s announcement last night, August 17, of the return of the National Capital Region to General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status starting August 19.

PBA teams, along with their staff, will undergo swab testing at the Makati Medical Center on August 20 and 21, except for the three San Miguel Corporation teams – San Miguel Beer, Barangay Ginebra, and Magnolia Pambansang Manok, which will undergo testing at SMC’s own laboratory center.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said that, once the teams get their all-clear results, they can start with non-scrimmage training by batches following the league’s roadmap, guidelines and protocols.

“Kung magtuloy-tuloy and sitwasyon, at makapag-scrimmage na ang mga teams, and then kung mapunta ang NCR sa MGCQ, pwede tayong matuloy sa October,” Marcial said, alluding to PBA’s objective of resuming Season 45 – Philippine Cup – this October.
