Five-time All Filipino champions San Miguel Beermen are back on the winning column after defeating sister team and league-leading Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel, 81-66, Sunday, November 08, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.
Bigman Mo Tautuaa led the San Miguel attack with a double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds while Chris Ross also recorded a double double with 11 points and 14 boards.
SMB had a 20-point lead in the third quarter 56-36, which was defused by Ginebra with a 17-0 run, 56-53 with four minutes left in the same quarter.
However, SMB's defense continued to limit Ginebra to 10 points in the fourth quarter.
Gin Kings head coach Tim Cone placed some of his key players on the bench for much of the last period like Stanley Pringle, who only contributed 7 points. Center Japeth Aguilar led the team scoring with 13 points.
The Beermen now join the Alaska Aces, Meralco Bolts and Magnolia Hotshots in fourth place holding 6-4 win-loss records.
Despite losing to the Beermen, Ginebra still leads the team standings, holding a 7-3 win-loss cards
