The Philippine Football League (PFL) Clubs United City FC (formerly known as Ceres-Negros FC) and Kaya-FC Iloilo will be seeing action in the Asian Football Confideration (AFC), which resumes competition this September 23 to 29.

This was announced on Philippine Football League’s official website today, August 13.

The two PFL clubs have already played their first three group stage matches before AFC temporarily halted the competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

United City FC (Ceres-Negros FC) is undefeated in Group G with 7 points. AFC’s all-time top goal scorer and Spanish striker Bienvenido Maranon is the tournament’s top scorer with 5 goals. The team had a 4-0 win against Bali United last March 2020 at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium, which also turned out to be their last match before the tournament got postponed.

Kaya FC-Iloilo sits on second place in Group H with 5 points. They played against Indonesian team PSM Makasaar to a 1-1 draw last March 2020 at the Madya Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. Kaya’s top scorer Eric Giganto has 2 goals to his name.

Both teams will be competing in a centralized venue for their remaining games. United City FC’s Group G matches are set in Cam Pha Stadium in Quang Ningh, Vietnam while Kaya FC-Iloilo’s Group G matches have yet to be finalized by AFC.
