UAAP indefinitely bans former UST Tigers Head Coach Aldin Ayo

The University Athletics Association Of The Philippines (UAAP) announced Wednesday that the league will indefinitely ban former University of Sto Tomas Tigers men’s basketball team head coach Aldin Ayo following a UST report showing he allegedly endangered the health and well-being of the student-athletes by conducting the training in his hometown in Sorsogon during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Ayo is to be banned from participating in all UAAP events and UAAP- sanctioned activities.

The UAAP Board of Trustees reviewed the recommendations of the Managing Directors concerning the UST Men’s Basketball Team.

“The recommendations were based on the report submitted by UST, which investigated the alleged training bubble of its basketball team in Capuy, Sorsogon.” the statement said.

The UAAP also noted that the Commission On Higher Education will also investigate the possible violations by UST and other individuals who may also be liable.

“The association will follow these developments before discussing the next action on the case,” it added
